Melasma is one of those skin conditions that doesn’t particularly care how many brightening products you’ve purchased.
It typically appears as brown, tan, or gray-brown patches of pigmentation, often on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, nose, or chin. Hormonal changes, genetics, sun exposure, heat, and other factors may contribute to its development or make existing melasma more noticeable.
And important note: melasma is not the same thing as ordinary sun damage.
What Can Help With Melasma?
Melasma can be complex, which is why identifying the type of pigmentation you’re dealing with matters before jumping into treatment.
Depending on your skin and history, a melasma plan may include medical-grade skincare, pigment-regulating ingredients, professional treatments, and diligent sun protection. Our entire staff at The Injectables Lounge are pigment correction specialists, with treatment plans tailored to the type of pigmentation, skin type, triggers, and individual patient.

Managing melasma can also require an ongoing approach rather than viewing treatment as a permanent “erase button.” Your provider can discuss strategies for improving its appearance while helping manage factors that may contribute to recurrence.
